Dear Church Family:
On Sunday, January 30th our newly formed search committee for our next minister of music met for the very first time. In agreement with our constitution and by laws, the search team was selected from three current personnel committee members as well as four musical representatives from our church body. I will be serving as point leader along with our co chair, Chuck Jindrich who was unanimously selected by our Administrative Council as well as the search team. Here are the servants of God included in this fine committee:
David Hughes (ex officio – pastoral representative)
Chuck Jindrich (musical representative, co chair)
Nicole Fannin (musical representative)
Becca Davis (musical representative)
Larry Frazier (musical representative)
Tommy Cox (personnel)
David Brooks (personnel)
Holly Tribble (personnel)
Mark Albertus (ex officio – chair of deacons)
In our meeting, the search committee reviewed key sections of our recently completed church profile which included our theology as well as our beliefs regarding music and worship. We then completed a thorough assessment of the current strengths and weaknesses of our church music ministry. Lastly, our attention turned towards the formation of a job description. I highlighted specific areas that I believed to be important to the candidate profile as did our team. It was a fantastic discussion!
Moving forward, we are now finalizing the details of a formal job description which we will submit to schools, conventions, and websites. We are committed to a national search for a highly qualified, full time candidate who will serve as our next minister of music. He or she will have the amazing opportunity of leading a first rate music ministry within a church that has a deep tradition of musical excellence and worship which has brought people to a deeper understanding of faith in Jesus Christ for generations. We anticipate a wonderful candidate pool which will require thorough interviewing, discussion, and prayer.
I, along with the search committee, ask for your continued prayers as we dedicate ourselves to working on this process until its completion. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak with me, our co chair Chuck Jindrich, or any member of this search team. We are excited for all that God is continuing to do during this new beginning!
Sincerely,
Pastor David
