CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

Everything we do in our children’s ministry at First Baptist is to help your child CONNECT with God and others, GROW in their faith and relationship with Jesus, LEARN about God, and LOVE God and others. All our activities are planned with these four goals in mind.

Nursery

Nursery is provided for infants through age 3 during church activities on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights as well as for special church events. Safety procedures are in place for screening both paid staff and volunteers in our children’s ministry.

When arriving at the nursery, parents will be asked to fill out an information card in order to help us take the best possible care of their child while they are at church. To avoid overcrowding our nursery, we ask that only one parent walk inside the nursery to drop off/pick up and that older children wait outside the nursery doors.

Sunday School

All Sunday School classes are located on the children’s ministry hall.
We use Orange Curriculum for all our children’s Sunday School classes. Check out their app for parents called. It provides simple cues throughout the week to help you connect what your child is learning at church with everyday moments at home.

Worship

The presence of children in worship is to be celebrated. We offer several worship options for children including remaining in the sanctuary to worship with their family, children’s church, and nursery. For more information about worship click here.

CAM3

CAM3 is our Wednesday night program for children 1st through 6th grade. CAM3jr is for our younger children in PreK and Kindergarten. CAM3 and CAM3jr meet every Wednesday night during the school year from 5:30-7:00pm to learn about missions, music, and ministry.

Dr. David Hughes

Senior Pastor

Dr. David Hughes is in his tenth year of ministry to Christ and The Church. David’s formation is in thanks to many fine schools, employers, churches, and his family. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish at Furman University (2005), a Master of Divinity from Erskine Theological Seminary (2018) and is currently working on his Doctor of Ministry at McAfee School of Theology in Church Leadership and Administration with plans to complete the degree in 2023. Before accepting the call to ministry in 2011, David worked for six years for non-profits in Greenville, South Carolina and Patagonia, Chile. Previously, he served as the minister to students at First Baptist Church of Augusta (2018 – 2021) and Easley First Baptist Church (2011 – 2018). Recently, David accepted the call to be the next senior pastor of First Baptist Church Carrollton of Carrollton, Georgia where he will begin in January 2022. Married to the love of his life in 2006, David’s amazing wife of fifteen years is Rebecca who is a constant source of love, encouragement, and partnership in the ministry. The two of them welcomed their daughter Maggie in 2012 and now watch with amazement as their precious nine-year-old continues to grow and develop. David believes firmly that The Church is a place of invitation for all where lives can be transformed by The Gospel of Jesus Christ. His passion is to create vision and lead God’s people to express the love of Christ in the world.
