Love Your Neighbor Day

Join us as we share God’s love with our community, Saturday April 13th 9am – 12pm, with lunch following! We’ll be working with local partners Open Hands and West Georgia Domestic Violence Shelter, packing toiletry care bags, playing Bingo with assisted living residents, and more. The Constitution of First Baptist Church of Carrollton, GA states in Article III, Section O. Evangelism and Missions,  that “Christ commissioned His Church to publish the good news of salvation to all the world, beginning in the immediate community.  Hence, all Christians are called to engage in missions through praying, giving and witnessing.” The Missions Team of our Church is charged with the responsibility of leading the church in a focus on diverse mission endeavors by bringing together individuals, families, and our congregation to engage in missions here in our community and to the ends of the earth. The centerpiece of our Missions Strategy is the development, introduction, and implementation of a Five-Year Plan, 2018-2022

The Mission Strategy Components which support the noted commitment reference the call “to engage in missions through praying, giving and witnessing” could include the following:

  1. Education/Inspiration
  2. Prayer
  3. Stewardship of Resources
  4. Planned Mission Engagement – Going and Doing at the Local, State, National and Global partnership levels
Past Mission Trips

2018 Mission Trip to Texas

First Baptist Church, Carrollton, GA, made the commitment to participate in the Texas Coastal Church Recovery Project on July 14-21, 2018, through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Global and in partnership with members of the larger Texas Baptist family.  Coastal Oaks Church, Rockport, TX, was our base of operations upon our arrival on Sunday evening, July 15 through Friday morning, July 20.  We provided a Construction Team of  8 persons and a Vacation Bible School/General Ministry Team of 13 persons,  thus resulting in a total team of 21 multi-generational persons.

2016 Mission Trip to Grand Bahama

First Baptist Church family partnered with St. Cleveland Baptist Church, Freetown, Grand Bahama Island, on June 26-July 5, 2016. A group of 40 team members representing inter-generational diversity of our church–including approximately twenty (20) youth and twenty (20) adults–joined with St. Cleveland in several mission action events, including Vacation Bible School, construction/renovation, children/ youth ministry development, community building, and medical clinic assistance.

Dr. David Hughes

Senior Pastor

Dr. David Hughes accepted the call to the senior pastor of First Baptist Church Carrollton in January 2022. David’s formation is in thanks to many fine schools, employers, churches, and his family. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish at Furman University (2005), a Master of Divinity from Erskine Theological Seminary (2018) and a Doctor of Ministry at McAfee School of Theology in Church Leadership and Administration (2023). Before accepting the call to ministry in 2011, David worked for six years for non-profits in Greenville, South Carolina and Patagonia, Chile. Previously, he served as the minister to students at First Baptist Church of Augusta (2018 – 2021) and Easley First Baptist Church (2011 – 2018). Married to Rebecca in 2006, David’s amazing wife is a constant source of love, encouragement, and partnership in the ministry. The two of them welcomed their daughter Maggie in 2012 and now watch with amazement as their precious daughter continues to grow and develop. David believes firmly that The Church is a place of invitation for all where lives can be transformed by The Gospel of Jesus Christ. His passion is to create vision and lead God’s people to express the love of Christ in the world.
