Opportunities To Serve
Please bring individually wrapped candy and chocolate (no peanuts or peanut butter) to the Collection Corner for our Community Egg Hunt!
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and our partner spotlight is the West Georgia Child Advocacy Center. The Child Advocacy Center exists to champion the needs of sexually, physically, and emotionally abused children in Carroll, Haralson and Heard counties through prevention, intervention, therapy, collaboration, and healing. We can support them by collecting individually packaged snacks and drinks (waters, capri suns, juice boxes) and new or gently used stuffed animals. Please bring items to the Collection Corner.
Help paint the Emond’s fence! We were unable to complete this project as part of Mission Madness due to the rain, but we can continue to share God’s love with this family by rescheduling their project to the morning of Saturday April 5th. There is a lot of fence to paint so I’d love to have 20 individuals to help! Use the link or contact Mariah Whitmer ([email protected]) to sign up.
Past Mission Events
Fall Youth Events
The first Wednesday of each month, youth have gathered for local missions activities. They have baked cookies for an assisted living facility, made mason jar meals for a local foster family, shopped for food items for Open Hands, and helped prepare for Rotary Club’s Share the Warmth event.
Fall Love Your Neighbor Day
FBCC members, joined by the Carrollton Baseball Team, served our community this fall by sorting and organizing items for Carroll County Soup Kitchen and West Georgia Domestic Violence Shelter; doing yard work for a local foster family, Keep Carroll Beautiful, and Pregnancy Resource Center; packing care baskets and toiletry bags for DFCS; filling Little Free Pantries; decorating cookies and playing Bingo with residents at Laurel Glen; visiting our most senior members; and handing out Love Your Neighbor bags to local businesses.
Village Youth Summit
Shoes, school supplies, and hot dog lunches were provided to students at the 13th annual Village Youth Summit Back to School Rally on Saturday August 10 to help them prepare for the new school year.
Honduras VBS Mission Trip
A team of ten traveled to Honduras for a week to partner with Mission on the Move to share God’s love. They led a community-wide Vacation Bible School, a VBS at the Mission on the Move education center, and multiple Vacation Bible Schools in the public schools.
Love Your Neighbor Day
Sixty individuals of all ages came together to share God’s love with our community through a morning of service. We partnered with West Georgia Domestic Violence Shelter, Open Hands, Impact West GA, CASA, and Keep Carroll Beautiful to sort and pack items, paint transitional apartment units, clean up litter, visit our most senior members, and more.
Honduras Construction Mission Trip
As part of our ongoing partnership with Mission on the Move (MOM) Honduras, First Baptist Church Carrollton sent a team of eight with a primary objective to repaint one of the three homes at the Oaks of Righteousness, MOM’s family-styled children’s homes. They were also able to spend time with the children and visit a local nursing home.
