This Sunday we begin an exciting new sermon series entitled “Generation to Generation” at First Baptist Church Carrollton. I’ve been working on this series now for a couple of months and cannot wait to begin! In fact, let’s start now! Here are the top five most important things to know. Print them out and keep them handy. They will benefit you now and later!
This title of this series “Generation to Generation” is also the theme of a season of celebration as we recognize our 175th anniversary as a church. For those who may not know, First Baptist Church Carrollton began in 1847, and God hasn’t stopped being faithful to us since then!
“Generation to Generation” recognizes that our faith in God is a precious gift from generations past. We will reflect on the stories of past generations both in scripture and within our church. It also our opportunity and mission to pass the same gift of faith to generations yet to come! I hope that you can see that idea come to life in the graphic which our own Melissa Ward has made for us!
This series will continue to grow and build each Sunday morning. It’s meant to give you tools and insight into how you can pass the gift of a relationship with a loving God to the next generation. In other words, your presence and participation will greatly benefit you! Don’t miss, but if you are away, please watch the live stream of our worship service or catch the recording later!
All throughout the series, we will recognize our theme verse of Ephesians 3:20-21. In fact, I’m challenging everyone to memorize these two verses of scripture. They read, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever. Amen.” Please go ahead and begin to read and commit these important verses to your heart and mind now!
The culmination of this series will occur on our anniversary weekend celebration which is to occur October 22 – 23. You should have all received a “Save the Date” card by now, and later this month you’ll receive a letter from me and our planning committee with more detailed instructions about what is to come.
Friends, there is so much to look forward to in the life of our church. I’m so glad to be a part of a generation that gets to see the beauty of all that God is doing here, now, and forevermore!
